The thing is, it is not always necessary or desirable to buy new. After that s/he installs new pistons and rings, and grinds and reseats the valves. Next s/he cleans all oil galleys, installs a new oil pump, and reworks the cylinder head. When all is said and done, the engine is ready for you to purchase and use in your Suburban for many years of reliable service.
