GMC Chevrolet Suburban Parts Depot - Suburban Extended Warranties

Extended warranty = peace of mind.

Looking for an extended warranty for your new or used Chevy Suburban? This is a great place to start.

An extended warranty protects your investment. When you buy this type of warranty, you are purchasing a service contract that guarantees that the warranty company pays for expensive repairs if parts should wear out or break, and not you.

An extended warranty will cover your Suburban after the 36-month/36,000 mile new vehicle warranty expires. Choose from three different styles of extended warranties: bumper-to-bumper, stated component and drive train.

Suburbans registered in the United States are covered for three years/36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This original warranty covers the entire vehicle, including tires, towing to your nearest Chevrolet dealership and cosmetic defects. In addition, rust-through corrosion is covered for six years/100,000 miles. The powertrain is covered for five years/100,000 miles.

Similar to the original GM warranty, a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty will cover everything on your Suburban except emission control systems and tires (although there are exceptions. It is wise to read the warranty policy to find out what those exceptions are. Many bumper-to-bumper policies also have, or offer as an option, added benefits and coverage, including 24-hour roadside assistance, car rental reimbursement, wear and tear coverage, travel interruption protection, seal and gasket coverage, towing, and electronic equipment coverage.

The auto industry determines warranty coverage by mileage. A vehicle with more than 50,000 miles is considered a "used" car and thus a bumper-to-bumper policy will not cover the vehicle, although any car that still has the original manufacturer's warranty is also considered "new" by extended warranty company standards.

Remember: extended warranty companies sell bumper-to-bumper coverage only on "new" cars. The auto industry considers any vehicle still under part of the manufacturer's warranty a new car. New vehicle warranties today are good for as many as 10 years/100,000 miles, so it is best to find out whether or not your vehicle is still under the manufacturer's warranty. If it is, it is eligible for a new car extended warranty, and therefore much can be covered.

If your Suburban has more than 50,000 miles, it is eligible for a "stated component" warranty, which protects most major Suburban components: transmission, engine, transmission, and radiator. This type of warranty may also cover the water pump, alternator, gaskets and seals, and some of the hi-tech equipment that you have on your Suburban. In other words, whatever components are "stated" in the policy. In general, the mileage limit for stated component warranties is 100,000 miles.
