Finding a good, reliable, honest body shop is like finding a good hairdresser. And once you find him or her, it's foolish to let them go.
Is it easy to find a good body shop? Probably not. It is worth searching for one? Absolutely. And you can start right here.
When you click on a name, you get map. That's cool. But what you really need is contact information. Look at the listing. You will see a phone number, a fax number, and a website, if they have one.
Call one of the body shops. Ask them about their work: how long does the typical repair take? Do they use aftermarket parts, OEM parts, or both? When will they use an aftermarket part versus an OEM part? Is this based solely on price or are their quality factors involved? What about a guarantee? Ask about a price on a typical repair. Now call another shop. Ask the same or similar questions. Do this one or two more times. When you are finished, you should have a pretty good feel for the shops you contacted and therefore should be able to make an intelligent decision about who you want to work on your Suburban.
Use can use email, too, to compare prices and services. That way you don't have to spend a lot of time on the phone.
One more thing: check on the Chevy Suburban Forum. You might find that someone is recommending a body shop in your area. Word of mouth is always the best advertising, so you may as well check this angle, too.
